Tabletop Dishwasher

One of the main influences when picking out a tabletop dishwasher is the price tag, but do you really know what you are getting for your hard-earned money?

One of the main influences when picking out a tabletop dishwasher is the price tag, but do you really know what you are getting for your hard-earned money? Tabletop dishwashers can and do vary greatly in both features and specs and is very obviously dependent on brand name. Therefore it is hugely important to know what you’re actually looking for in the dishwasher before you decide which one to purchase. At the end of the day, you don’t want to end up spending more for a dishwasher that has features that you will probably never even use. But what should you be looking for before you take the plunge and purchase your table top dishwasher?

Obviously, the dimensions are going to play a huge part, but as a rule of thumb, standard tabletop dishwashers come in at twenty-two inches in length, nineteen inches in height and seventeen inches in width. Prior to purchasing, then, you will want to make sure you have enough space on a countertop or table that is located near to a sink, or faucet and drainage system for your new appliance. Generally, these dishwasher connections (water and hose) are fairly short, but you can buy extensions should you wish (and that includes an extension wire in case the electricity socket is not in a handy location).

Another consideration to take on board when deciding which dishwasher to buy are the noise levels emitted by the appliance. Depending on where you reside in the world, noise level ratings are shown in different formats. In the UK, for instance, decibel levels are used, whereas in the United States, the appliances are marked in grade from quiet to noisy and everything in between. If in Europe, and you come across a countertop dishwasher with a rating of fifty decibels or lower then this is considered to be “quiet”.

Energy consumption is another important factor to consider as well. This will have a direct consequence on the electricity bills you pay each month. Nowadays, the Energy Star rating has become the norm when deciding the energy efficiency of an appliance; the higher the rating, the less energy it consumes. This is also beneficial for those individuals concerned about the impact on the environment.

Another factor is the number of cycles a particular tabletop dishwasher may have. Some settings you may find include the prewash cycle, the normal cycle, the economy cycle, the fast cycle and the intensive cycle. You usually find that the more cycles included in an appliance, the dearer the said appliance is, and that includes dishwashers of all types. Different situations would demand different cycle usage, but for those individuals who may find they use a dishwasher infrequently, then an appliance with less wash cycles could be a more economically viable option.

There are other considerations as well. For example, does the dishwasher include a cutlery basket? Many people feel it is vitally important to be able to separate the cutlery from the rest of the pans and dishes when getting them washed. Not to mention the fact that cutlery has an awful habit of going AWOL in the strong jets of water if not in a basket.

The color of the dishwasher, believe it or not, can also play a huge role in choosing a tabletop dishwasher to buy. Depending on the current color-scheme of the kitchen, choices can range from black to white, or the very popular silver colored ones. Nevertheless, out of all the considerations to take on board before buying a countertop dishwasher, color should be the very last one on the list.?
